The Airport Community Consultative Committee met in November but with some CA’s not meeting in December we felt it important to share this info that we rec’d from the Airport Authority.
NAV CANADA and The Calgary Airport Authority are conducting a number of public engagement sessions on new proposed flight paths for arriving aircraft to YYC, called Required Navigational Performance (RNP) procedures. RNPs would provide shorter, more direct, continuous descent approaches that would save fuel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and allow pilots to approach the airport using reduced power settings, that should generate less noise in portions of the flight path. These paths would be used by specially equipped aircraft, and as a result the percentage of aircraft that can use them would initially be quite small.Information on the proposed flight paths is available on YYC’s website here. This information includes a NAV CANADA presentation on the RNPs given to the Airport Community Consultative Committee (ACCC) on November 23, materials that will be displayed at all the public open houses, an animation of the RNP paths at YYC, and a public feedback form to enable area residents to directly provide their comments and input on the design of the flight paths. The public comment period is open until January 30, 2016.We will be hosting community Open House meetings on a number of dates in December and January to enable the public to come out to learn more about the airport and aircraft operations in the area, and get direct answers to their questions. Attached are the materials available on our website for your reference, an article that has been submitted for publication to community newsletters, and information on the dates and locations of each of the upcoming meetings, in the event you wish to attend.
